-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INTRODUCTION

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory ("OWNED – Warranty & Inventory", "the app") is a personal, offline-first home

inventory application for Android. It lets you record the things you own, their

warranties, maintenance and replacement schedules, receipts and documents, and

set reminders about dates that matter.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on

your device, what the app sends over the internet, which third parties are

involved, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the OWNED – Warranty & Inventory Android

application distributed through Google Play.

The short version: OWNED – Warranty & Inventory has no user accounts and no servers of ours. Every

record you create is stored only on your own device. We, the developer, never

receive, see, store or transmit your inventory data. The only component in the

app that uses the internet on its own is the advertising SDK (Google AdMob),

plus a one-time on-demand download of Google's barcode scanning module if you

use barcode scanning. The rest of this policy describes that in full detail.

By installing and using OWNED – Warranty & Inventory you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not

agree, please do not use the app.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE, STORED ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory does not require registration. There is no sign-up, no login, no email

address, no phone number, no name, and no user profile. We do not ask for, and

the app does not collect, any of the following: your name, email address, postal

address, phone number, date of birth, gender, contacts, calendar, precise or

coarse GPS location, SMS or call logs, health data, financial account details,

or payment information.

Everything you enter into OWNED – Warranty & Inventory is written to a local SQLite database and a

private application folder on your device. This includes, depending on what you

choose to record:

  Item records

    - Item name, description, brand, model

    - Serial numbers and barcode values

    - Category and storage location (including a location hierarchy such as

"Home > Garage > Shelf 2") and any notes attached to a location

    - Purchase date, purchase price, currency, store or retailer name

    - Quantity, tags, free-text notes

    - Item status (active, archived) and archive date

    - Creation and modification timestamps

  Warranty records

    - Provider, warranty type, start date, end date, duration, notes

    - A linked warranty document, if you attach one

  Maintenance and replacement records

    - Schedule titles, types, intervals, next-due and last-completed dates

    - Service history entries: date performed, service type, service provider,

cost, currency, notes, and any linked document

    - Replacement history entries: date replaced, cost, currency, notes

  Reminders

    - Reminder titles, trigger dates and times, recurrence, lead days, status,

notes, and the local Android notification identifier used to schedule them

  Files and media

    - Photos you take of an item with the camera, or select from your device

    - Thumbnails generated by the app from those photos

    - Receipts, manuals, invoices, warranty certificates and other documents

(for example PDFs and images) that you attach or send to the app

    - Web links (URLs) you save against an item or a receipt

    - The file name, MIME type and size of each stored file

  Ownership history

    - Ownership events you record against an item, with dates and notes

  App settings and preferences

    - Accent colour, item layout, display density, whether images are shown,

default sort order, default currency, default reminder time, warranty

lead days, "ending soon" threshold, whether notifications are enabled,

and whether onboarding has been completed

This information is stored exclusively in the app's private storage area on your

device, which the Android operating system isolates from other applications. It

is not transmitted to us, it is not transmitted to any third party, and it is

not synchronised to any cloud service by the app.

There is no server component. We operate no backend, no database, no account

system and no analytics service for this app. We have no technical means of

accessing the contents of your inventory.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY BY THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory is free to use and is funded by advertising. Advertising is the one part

of the app that communicates with the internet as a normal part of its

operation. The advertising provider, not the developer, collects and processes

the data described below.

2.1 Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK)

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google AdMob) to display banner

advertisements, interstitial advertisements and app-open advertisements. When an

ad is requested, Google receives and processes information that it needs to

select, deliver, measure and report on that ad. This typically includes:

  - The Android Advertising ID (a resettable, user-controlled identifier

provided by Google Play services). The app declares the

    com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission for this purpose.

  - Device information: device model and manufacturer, operating system and

version, screen size and density, language and locale, time zone

  - Network information: IP address (from which an approximate, coarse location

such as country or region may be derived), and network connection type

  - App information: the application identifier, app version, and the SDK

    version in use

  - Ad interaction data: that an ad was requested, shown, viewed, clicked or

dismissed, and basic diagnostic information about ad delivery

Google uses this information to serve and measure advertising, to cap how often

the same ad is repeated, to detect invalid activity and fraud, and - where you

have consented or where applicable law otherwise permits - to personalise the

advertisements you see.

Important: the advertising SDK is given advertising request data only. It has no

access to your OWNED – Warranty & Inventory database, your item records, your photos, your receipts,

your documents, your notes, your serial numbers, your prices, your locations or

your reminders. None of your inventory content is ever passed to an advertising

network, and none of it is used for advertising, profiling or targeting.

We do not receive the Android Advertising ID or any identifier that would let us

recognise you. We do not operate any advertising, attribution, analytics or

audience measurement service of our own.

Google's handling of advertising data is governed by:

  Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services:

    https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

  Google Advertising policies: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

Google may act as a data controller, an independent controller, or a processor

in respect of ad data, depending on your region and the ad serving mode. Google

also shares ad requests with third-party advertising buyers and measurement

partners as described in its own policies and in its list of ad technology

providers.

2.2 Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent

Where required by law - for example in the European Economic Area, the United

Kingdom and Switzerland - OWNED – Warranty & Inventory uses Google's User Messaging Platform to present

a consent form before any personalised advertising is requested. Your choice in

that form determines whether personalised or non-personalised advertising is

served.

The app resolves your consent status before the Mobile Ads SDK requests any

advertisement. If consent is required and has not been granted, or if the

consent request fails for any reason, the app requests non-personalised

advertising only. If Google indicates that ads may not be requested at all, the

app requests no advertising.

Where Google requires a persistent privacy entry point, the app exposes an "Ad

privacy options" control so that you can reopen the consent form and change or

withdraw your choice at any time.

2.3 Google ML Kit (on-device barcode scanning and text recognition)

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory uses Google ML Kit for two optional features: scanning a product barcode,

and recognising text on a label or receipt (Latin script optical character

recognition) so that a serial number or receipt detail can be filled in for you.

Both operations run entirely on your device. The photograph or camera frame used

for scanning is processed locally and is not uploaded to Google or to us for

recognition. Recognised text is presented to you for review before anything is

saved, and every field remains editable by hand.

Barcode scanning uses the barcode scanning module that Google Play services

delivers on demand. The first time you use barcode scanning, the app asks Google

Play services to install that module, which requires an internet connection and

is a request to Google Play services rather than to us. This request contains no

inventory data. If the module is unavailable on your device, scanning is

disabled and you can type any code manually.

2.4 Google Play

The app is distributed through Google Play. Your installation, updates and any

interactions with the Play Store itself are handled by Google under Google's own

privacy policy. We receive from Google only aggregated, anonymised and

non-identifying statistics such as install counts, country-level breakdowns,

crash and ANR rates, and ratings - all of which are produced by Google Play and

contain no information that identifies you individually.

2.5 Services OWNED – Warranty & Inventory does NOT use

To be explicit, OWNED – Warranty & Inventory contains no:

  - Analytics or product-telemetry SDK (no Google Analytics, no Firebase

Analytics, no Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment or similar)

  - Crash reporting or performance monitoring SDK (no Crashlytics, no Sentry)

  - Attribution, install-referrer, or marketing measurement SDK

  - Social login, social sharing SDK, or advertising SDK other than Google AdMob

  - Push messaging service (no Firebase Cloud Messaging). Reminders are local

notifications scheduled on the device itself.

  - In-app purchase or billing integration

  - Cloud storage, sync or account backend of any kind

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory contains no code that transmits your inventory content anywhere.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. HOW INFORMATION IS USED

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3.1 Information stored on your device is used only to operate the features you

use, on your device:

  - To display, search, sort and filter your inventory

  - To calculate warranty status, "ending soon" warnings, service due dates and

    replacement due dates

  - To schedule and deliver local reminder notifications at the times you chose

  - To render your photos, receipts and documents when you open them

  - To detect possible duplicate entries when you add an item

  - To produce a backup file when you explicitly ask to export

  - To restore records when you explicitly ask to import a backup file

  - To remember your display and reminder preferences

3.2 Information collected by Google AdMob is used by Google to serve, cap,

measure and (subject to consent) personalise advertising, and to prevent fraud

and invalid traffic, as described in Google's own policies.

3.3 We do not use your information for any other purpose. We do not sell, rent,

trade, license or share personal information, because we do not collect or

receive any.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. WHEN DATA LEAVES YOUR DEVICE - AND ONLY THEN

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your inventory data leaves your device only when you personally choose to send

it, using one of the following actions. There is no automatic, background or

scheduled upload of any kind.

4.1 Exporting a backup

Settings > Your data > Export creates a JSON backup file containing your

item records, categories, locations, warranties, schedules, service and

replacement history, reminders, receipts, document metadata, ownership

events and app settings. The file is written to the app's private storage

and handed to the Android share sheet, where you choose the destination -

for example your own cloud drive, an email to yourself, or a messaging app.

Once the file leaves the app, it is governed by the privacy policy of the

destination you selected, not by this one. We never receive a copy.

4.2 Sharing a document or photo

When you share a stored receipt, manual or photo, the app passes it to the

Android share sheet and you choose the recipient application. The same

applies: we never receive a copy.

4.3 Opening a saved web link

If you save a URL against an item or a receipt and then open it, Android

opens it in your browser or another app, and that request goes to the

website you chose, under that website's own privacy policy.

4.4 Opening a stored file in another app

Opening a PDF or an image hands it, through the app's private FileProvider

with a temporary read grant, to whichever application you select to view it.

No world-readable copy of the file is created.

4.5 Receiving content through the Android share sheet

You can send a link, an image or a PDF to OWNED – Warranty & Inventory from another application.

The content is copied into OWNED – Warranty & Inventory's private storage so you can attach it to

an item. This is an inbound transfer initiated by you; nothing is sent out.

4.6 Importing a backup

Importing reads a JSON file you select from your device. The file is

validated field by field and imported inside a single transaction. Records

whose identifier already exists are skipped rather than overwritten, so an

import cannot silently destroy data you already had. Nothing is uploaded.

Apart from the advertising requests described in Section 2 and the one-time

Google Play services barcode module installation, OWNED – Warranty & Inventory makes no network

requests. The app is configured to refuse cleartext (unencrypted HTTP) traffic

and to trust only the operating system's certificate authorities.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. DEVICE PERMISSIONS DISCLOSURE

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory requests the minimum set of Android permissions needed for the features it

offers. Each is listed below with the reason it exists. The app remains usable if

you decline any runtime permission; the corresponding feature is simply

unavailable or degrades gracefully.

  CAMERA (android.permission.CAMERA) - runtime permission

Requested only when you take a photo of an item, scan a barcode, or scan a

label for text. Images captured for scanning are processed on the device and

are not uploaded. If you decline, you can still add items, and you can still

pick an existing photo or type any code by hand. Camera hardware is declared

as optional, so the app installs on devices without a camera.

  POST_NOTIFICATIONS (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS) - runtime

permission on Android 13 and above

Requested only when you first create something that needs a reminder, with

an explanation at that moment. It is not requested at startup. If you

decline, reminders still exist and remain visible inside the app; your

device simply will not alert you.

  RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED (android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) - install

  time

Used solely to re-register your existing local reminders after the device

restarts, so a reboot does not silently cancel them. No data is collected or

    transmitted.

  VIBRATE (android.permission.VIBRATE) - install time

Used for short haptic feedback on actions such as saving, confirming and

    deleting.

  AD_ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) - install time

Required by Google Play services so that the Google Mobile Ads SDK can read

the Android Advertising ID for advertising and frequency capping, subject to

your consent choices and your device-level advertising settings.

INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - install time, contributed by Google Play

  services libraries

Used by the advertising SDK to request advertisements and by Google Play

services to install the barcode scanning module on first use. Your inventory

is never sent over the network.

Permissions deliberately NOT requested:

  - No location permission of any kind (neither approximate nor precise)

  - No contacts, calendar, microphone, SMS, call log or phone state access

  - No "all files access" or broad external storage permission. Photos are

chosen through the Android system picker and documents through the system

file picker, so the app only ever receives the single file you selected.

  - No SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM or USE_EXACT_ALARM. These restricted exact-alarm

permissions are explicitly removed from the app's manifest, including from

any library that would otherwise add them, in line with Google Play's Exact

Alarm policy. Reminders are therefore scheduled as inexact alarms and

Android may deliver them within a short batching window around your chosen

    time.

  - No USE_BIOMETRIC or USE_FINGERPRINT. These are removed from the manifest

because the app never calls a biometric API.

  - No background location, no foreground service, no accessibility service, no

device administrator privileges, no query of your installed applications

beyond the system intents needed to open a photo, a file or a share sheet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. DATA STORAGE, SECURITY AND RETENTION

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.1 Where data is stored

All inventory data is stored in a local SQLite database and in a private files

directory inside the app's own sandbox on your device. The Android operating

system prevents other applications from reading that sandbox. The database

records only a file name for each stored photo or document, never a full path,

and a single storage component resolves names to locations, so a malformed

import or a malicious share intent cannot reach files outside the sandbox.

6.2 Cloud backup and device transfer are disabled

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory deliberately opts out of Android's automatic cloud backup and of

device-to-device transfer for its database, its files and its preferences. Your

receipts, serial numbers and photos are therefore not copied into Google's

backup service by the app. The consequence is important and intentional: if you

lose your device, reset it, or uninstall the app, the data is gone unless you

exported a backup yourself. Please export regularly if your records matter to

you.

6.3 Security measures

  - Data is held within the application's private storage sandbox, protected by

Android's application isolation and by the device's own file-based

encryption where the device supports it (modern Android devices encrypt

user storage by default, and that encryption is tied to your device lock).

  - Unencrypted HTTP traffic is disabled application-wide, and only system

    certificate authorities are trusted.

  - Files are shared with other apps only through the app's own FileProvider

with a temporary read grant, never by creating a world-readable copy.

  - Imported backup files are treated as untrusted input: size-limited,

row-limited, and validated field by field before anything is written.

  - Files received through the Android share sheet are size-limited and their

names are sanitised before they are stored.

  - Release builds are minified and obfuscated, and debugging is disabled.

  - The app database is not separately encrypted with a passphrase beyond the

protection the operating system provides. If your device is unlocked and in

someone else's hands, an app with sufficient privileges or a device with a

modified operating system could reach app data. Please use a device lock

screen. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot

    guarantee absolute security.

6.4 Retention

Because we hold none of your data, we have no retention period to apply to it.

Your data remains on your device for exactly as long as you keep it there, and

is deleted immediately and permanently when you delete it or uninstall the app.

Retention of advertising data is determined by Google under its own policies.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. DATA DELETION AND YOUR CONTROL

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are in complete control of the data in OWNED – Warranty & Inventory at all times.

  Delete an individual record

Any item, photo, receipt, document, warranty, schedule, service or

replacement history entry, ownership event or reminder can be deleted from

within the app at any time.

  Delete everything

Settings > Your data > Delete all data erases the entire database and every

stored file from the device. The action requires an explicit confirmation

and requires you to type DELETE, because it cannot be undone. Scheduled

notifications are cancelled as part of it.

  Clear app storage

Android Settings > Apps > OWNED – Warranty & Inventory > Storage > Clear storage removes all app

    data from the device.

  Uninstall

Uninstalling OWNED – Warranty & Inventory removes the database, all stored photos and documents,

and all preferences from your device.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. Because there is no server-side copy, there

is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and nothing that can be recovered

once it is gone. Export a backup first if you may need the data later.

  Advertising controls

    - Android Settings > Privacy > Ads (the exact path varies by manufacturer

and Android version) lets you reset your advertising ID or delete it

entirely, which opts you out of ad personalisation across apps.

    - Where a consent form is legally required in your region, the app's ad

privacy options entry lets you reopen it and change or withdraw your

      consent at any time.

  Notification controls

    - Android Settings > Apps > OWNED – Warranty & Inventory > Notifications lets you disable

reminders at the system level; the app also has its own notification

      toggle in Settings.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING (EEA, UNITED KINGDOM, SWITZERLAND)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the

following legal bases apply under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  - Data you enter into the app: processed locally on your own device under your

own control. We are not a controller of this data because we neither receive

    nor have access to it.

  - Non-personalised advertising and essential ad delivery: legitimate interests

(Article 6(1)(f)) in funding a free application, and in fraud prevention and

    ad measurement.

  - Personalised advertising and any storing of or access to information on your

device for advertising purposes: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), collected

through the Google User Messaging Platform consent form and withdrawable at

any time through the app's ad privacy options.

International transfers: information processed by Google for advertising may be

transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where

Google or its partners operate. Google states that it relies on appropriate

safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and

its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension,

for such transfers. Your inventory data is not transferred anywhere, because it

never leaves your device unless you send it yourself.

Your rights: subject to applicable law you have the right of access,

rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the

right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In practice, because

your data is on your own device: access and portability are satisfied by the

in-app export; rectification by editing any record; and erasure by deleting a

record or using Delete all data. For rights concerning advertising data held by

Google, please contact Google or use the controls described in Section 7. You

may also write to us at videapps11@gmail.com and we will help as far as we

technically can.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. UNITED STATES PRIVACY RIGHTS (CALIFORNIA AND OTHER STATES)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and comparable

laws in other U.S. states:

  - We do not collect personal information from users of OWNED – Warranty & Inventory. We therefore

have no categories of personal information to disclose, no sources to

identify, and no business or commercial purpose for collection to state on

    our own behalf.

  - We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal

information for cross-context behavioural advertising, because we do not

    collect any.

  - Google AdMob may collect identifiers (including the Android Advertising ID),

internet or network activity information, and coarse geolocation inferred

from IP address, for advertising purposes. Depending on your settings and

your jurisdiction, that activity may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" under

some state laws. You can opt out at the device level by resetting or

deleting your advertising ID, or by enabling "Opt out of Ads

Personalisation" in Android Settings, and, where the consent form is shown,

    by declining personalised advertising.

  - We do not collect or process sensitive personal information.

  - We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

To exercise a right or ask a question, email videapps11@gmail.com. We will

respond within the period required by applicable law. Because we hold no

identifiable information about you, our response may necessarily be that we hold

no data to disclose, correct or delete.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OWNED – Warranty & Inventory is a general-purpose household utility intended for adults. It is not

directed at children, it is not designed for or targeted to children under the

age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and it is not

enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families programme.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app

collects no personal information at all and requires no account, there is no

mechanism by which a child could submit personal information to us.

Advertising shown in the app is served by Google AdMob and is configured for a

general audience rather than a child-directed audience.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided information in

a way that concerns you, please contact videapps11@gmail.com. The practical

remedy is on the device itself: use Delete all data in the app's settings, clear

the app's storage, or uninstall the app, and all data is removed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11. ADVERTISING EXPERIENCE AND PLACEMENT

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For transparency about how advertising behaves in OWNED – Warranty & Inventory:

  - Banner advertisements appear only on browsing screens, and the app reserves

layout space for them so that no control is ever covered or mis-tapped.

  - Banners are hidden automatically whenever a dialog, sheet or picker is open.

  - No advertisement of any kind is shown during onboarding, on any editing or

data-entry screen, during camera or scanning flows, or on an error screen.

  - Full-screen advertisements are shown only after a completed action, never in

place of an action you requested, never on app launch during the first

minute of a session, and never immediately after returning from the camera,

a file picker or the share sheet. They are rate-limited and capped per

    session.

  - App-open advertisements are suppressed when you enter the app by tapping a

reminder notification or a shared link, so that the destination you asked

    for is what you see.

These measures exist to comply with Google Play's Disruptive Ads policy and to

keep the app usable.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND CONTENT

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The app may display advertisements that link to third-party websites and

applications, and it can open web links that you have saved yourself. We do not

control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, their

security or their privacy practices. Please review the privacy policy of any

third-party site or service before providing information to it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13. GOOGLE PLAY DATA SAFETY DECLARATION

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For consistency with the Data safety section of the app's Google Play listing:

Data collected or shared by the developer: none.

Data collected by third-party SDKs in the app:

    - Device or other identifiers (Android Advertising ID) - collected by

Google AdMob for advertising and fraud prevention.

    - App activity and diagnostics relating to ad delivery - collected by

Google AdMob for advertising and analytics of ad performance.

    - Approximate location, where inferred from IP address by the ad network,

      for advertising purposes.

Data processed on the device only and never sent off it: your inventory

records, photos, documents, receipts, notes, prices, serial numbers,

    locations, schedules and reminders.

Data encrypted in transit: yes - all network traffic is over HTTPS and

    cleartext traffic is disabled.

Users can request data deletion: yes - deletion is performed entirely on the

device, individually or through Delete all data, and by uninstalling.

Committed to Google Play's Families policy: not applicable; the app is not

    child-directed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14. DATA BREACH

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We hold no user data, so there is no server of ours that could be breached and

expose your inventory. If we ever became aware of a vulnerability in the app

itself that could expose data stored on devices, we would publish a fix through

Google Play and describe the issue in the release notes and in this policy as

promptly as we reasonably could.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the app

gains a feature that handles data differently, or if a third-party service

changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this

document and publish the new version at the same address. A copy of the policy

also ships inside the app and is readable offline under Settings > About and

legal > Privacy policy.

Material changes that affect how data is handled will be reflected in the app

update itself. Your continued use of the app after an update constitutes

acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page

periodically.
